Moto M Review and Test (Lenovo): Saucy Phone 2017

Today we look at the smartphone Moto M. This is the first unit of the brand with the processor library. Also it a metal with a 5.5-inch screen and a price of $ 300. For that money, there are many interesting smartphones. So, the novelty will be a not sweet, but this will discuss in the review.

MOTO M: REVIEW AND TEST

EQUIPMENT: MOTO M

The smartphone comes in a small box. Inside there is a charger for 2 A, USB Type-C cable, headset, and paper documentation. So, Lenovo’s smartphone owners will notice that the complete charge is very similar to them but with the Moto logo.

APPEARANCE: MOTO M

The design hint that this device is Moto line. It was too much in common in appearance with a line of Moto G 4th generation. But if Moto G makes from plastic, that Moto M is all metal body.

There are several options for colors are gold, dark gray and silver. We got on the test version of gold but it can not be considered exclusively female. This color looks more festive smartphone that can not be said about the dark-gray version. Since the front side is made of black.
The arrangement of elements on the front panel is a standard. On top, there is the earpiece, sensors, front camera and LED missed events. The bottom is a large “chin”, which proudly flaunts Moto logo. On the right side wall, there is the volume rocker and the power button. So, and on the left, there is a slot for a combine two nanoSIM format of SIM-cards or one SIM and memory cards. The headphone jack is at the top, and multimedia speaker, the microphone port, and USB Type-C have below.

The main camera lens and dual LED flash have a little bulge on the back cover. Immediately below them is a fingerprint reader. The fingerprint recognizes immediately, with almost always the first time.
The back cover is made with a slight rounding at the sides, due to this, tactile smartphone feels thinner than it actually is. The manufacturer made a nice chamfer, which gives the form of expensive smartphone devices. When you hold it in your hand it feels that the cover is made of thick metal. The front panel has a slight rounding.
Moto M can not be called a compact – its dimensions are typical for both the 5.5-inch device. It measures 151.35 × 75.35 × 7.85 mm, the weight is 163 grams.

MOTO M: SPECIFICATIONS AND FEATURES

If to speak is subjective, the screen has liked. It’s bright and juicy, even despite the fact that the calibration is not ideal. Minimum brightness allows to comfortably read from your phone in the dark.

INTERFACE: MOTO M

Moto M has the purest Android 6.0 – no third-party launcher and is very good. In fact, Moto M is a kind of Nexus. Pre-installed software is a minimum – Google Apps and Microsoft.
Unfortunately, there is no Active Display feature, but there are LED. Frankly, I think this exchange is not equivalent. Also, there are no gestures to quickly start the camera, flashlight. There was only a start of the chamber by double-pressing the power key. The smoothness of the interface is excellent. In the near future promise to upgrade to Android Nougat.

HARDWARE PLATFORM: MOTO M

Moto M is base on eight-processor MediaTek Helio P10 (MT6755) with a maximum clock frequency of 1.8 GHz. Its main competitor is Qualcomm Snapdragon 617/615. The video adapter is Mali T860 MP2.
RAM 3 GB available after the 1.5 GB. The internal memory has 32 GB, but the user remains little more than 22 GB. You should not forget about the possibility of expanding the memory by using a microSD card. As you can see, a good “piece of iron” inside the phone but some people do not like the processor MediaTek Helio P10. By the way, there is a version on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 617, but it is available for the UAE market.
The speaker volume is high. And it is enough to hear each other if you are talking in a busy/noisy place. Criticism about on the microphone is not. Multimedia speaker has loud.

AUTONOMY: MOTO M

The built-in battery capacity is 3050 mAh. In the PCMark test with the brightness of 200 cd / m² smartphone worked 5 hours 30 minutes which is not very much.

If you reduce the brightness and the load, the time will increase by about 2 days and 6 hours of active screen. Overall performance smartphone has a good autonomy. If you do not play games and watch video avidly, then put the phone it will be difficult for the daylight hours. The complete power supply is able to charge the battery for two hours.

CAMS: MOTO M

Moto M equip with the main camera of 16-megapixels with dual LED flash. Also, there is a phase autofocus (PDAF), aperture f / 2.0 and the regime of professional photography. The maximum video recording is the 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second. The camera interface is the same as the last smartphone’s Lenovo.

The front camera is 8-megapixels with a viewing angle of 85 degrees. For their task, it manages fine, but in the room to get a clear picture would have to for a while to stand still and do not move.

CONCLUSIONS: MOTO M

Moto M Review and Test (Lenovo): Saucy Phone 2017
Finally, Moto M – this is a good smartphone in the spirit of Motorola. Here is pure Android, smoothness, and stability. Also, there is a minimum of pre-installed applications, as well as an attractive appearance. Perhaps someone scared processor MediaTek Helio P10 but in practice, it works fine. It allows achieving a good performance and a long operating time.
